Electricity Meter

Energy costs are increasing worldwide providing an impetus to greater energy efficiency. For users to benefit from this increased efficiency, an accurate and reliable measurement of consumed energy is necessary. The mechanical electricity meter is being replaced by electronic smart electricity meters with remote load monitoring. Because energy meters are installed in the power distribution network, they are subjected to transients, impulse and damped oscillatory wave (DOW) testing.

EMC PARTNER offers extensive test solutions from one hand to conduct all conducted immunity impulse and insulation tests.

  • a.c. and d.c ELECTRICITY METERS

EMC PARTNER offers extensive immunity and insulation test solutions used for qualification of  analog Ferraris and  a.c. /d.c. digital electricity meters with voltage up to 600V and currents up to 125A for household and industrial use according to the common standards  IEC 62052 and EN 50471

  • DC ELECTRICITY METERS

EMC PARTNER offers also Impulse Generators and Power CDNs for  DC (Direct Current) electricity meters which are used in e.g. DC charging station, solar inverters, IT server farms and other DC platforms. The EMC tests are conducted according to IEC 62053-41 for meters with voltage up to 1500 V DC and currents up to 125A.

  • SMART ELECTRICITY METERS

SMART Meters are a.c./d.c. Meters or direct current meters used in smart grids and smart homes with the capability of communication  and data transmission via Ethernet, WLAN, PLC or M-BUS. EMC offers  in addition the Impulse Generators and power CDNs also Data CDNs for up to 8 lines and speeds up to 1Gbps.

Applications

The IEC 602555-26 divides the electromagnetic environment into severe (zone A) and typical (zone B), whereas IEC 61000-6-5 divides the installation environment into 4 zones from inside to outside EMC protected area.  EMC PARTNER offers EMC test equipment for both zones to conduct all impulse, transients and power fail tests, including EFT up to 4kV, Surge up to 4kV, Damped oscillatory waves up to 2kV as well as Dips/interrupts and insulation test up to 8kV.

Aircraft Pipework and Mechanical Joints

Lightning currents flow not only in aircraft structures, they can also be conducted through metallic pipework. In particular hydraulic pipes pass through parts of the aircraft that can potentially be exposed to severe lightning events. As with all pipework, there are many joints in aircraft hydraulic systems. All these mechanical joints have to be tested to ensure continued hydraulic pressure integrity after a lightning strike with the objective of improving flight safety. Lightning impulses are applied up to 7.5 kA.

Energy generation and distribution

Electrical energy has become essential to our modern way of life. Electricity is still largely generated using conventional means and placed into a power distribution system called the grid. Transmission is then by high voltage overhead cables to substations which transform the high voltage to a much lower level that can be safely used by consumers. From the power generation, through the substations to users, every equipment is subjected to safety and EMC tests to ensure reliability of our power supply.

Full Aircraft Vehicles

The testing of complete aircraft using full threat lightning is both costly and time consuming. Aircraft lightning test methods using reduced impulse current amplitude allow full aircraft vehicle testing without the attendant risk of damage to the avionic systems. This reduced amplitude test employs a 6.4/69 µs current impulse as a single stroke event. EMC PARTNER have a test system capable of tests on aluminium and composite aircraft structures according to SAE ARP 5416.
